Visa Information for International Competitors

Travelling to the Britannia Dance Championships from outside the UK?

If you are a dancer, teacher, or adjudicator who requires a visa to enter the United Kingdom, you can apply under the “Standard Visitor Visa – for Sports and Arts Professionals” category.

This visa allows you to:

  • Take part in an official dance competition or event.

  • Receive expenses or prize money if awarded.

  • Stay in the UK for up to 6 months.

Documents You Will Need

To support your application, you will need to provide:

  1. A valid passport (with at least one blank page and valid for the duration of your stay).

  2. Proof of your travel plans — for example, flight bookings or intended travel dates.

  3. Proof of accommodation — your booking confirmation from the Hilton at the Utilita Bowl or another local hotel.

  4. Invitation Letter — to be supplied by the Britannia Dance Championships organisers (see below).

  5. Proof of financial means — bank statements or sponsor confirmation showing you can cover your costs while in the UK.

  6. Evidence of participation — such as competition registration or confirmation of entry through Flymark.

Requesting an Invitation Letter

Competitors requiring a visa can request an official Letter of Invitation from the organisers by emailing:
info@britopen.dance

Your request should include:

  • Full name (as per passport)

  • Passport number and expiry date

  • Date of birth

  • Nationality and country of residence

  • Role at the event (Competitor / Teacher / Adjudicator / Spectator)

  • Competition categories entered

  • Hotel name and booking reference (if known)

  • Date of intended arrival and departure

We will provide a signed, personalised invitation confirming your participation in the Britannia Dance Championships 2026, which you can attach to your visa application.

When to Apply

You can apply for a UK Standard Visitor Visa up to 3 months before your travel date.
We strongly recommend submitting your application
no later than January 2026 to ensure adequate processing time.

You can start your application online via the official UK Government website:

Important Notes

  • You cannot work, teach, or receive payment for performance under this visa.

  • Your participation must be non-commercial (e.g., competition, not employment).
