In true Tudor style, James and Kelly Prouton reign supreme over the Britannia Dance Championships, channeling the legendary Henry VIII and his most sensible spouse, Katherine Parr. Much like Henry, James is known for his commanding presence on the dance floor (though he promises to keep his head and those participating attached this year), while Kelly mirrors Katherine’s patience, grace, and knack for managing a certain someone’s... larger-than-life ambitions.

Together, they preside over Britannia as a royal pair dedicated to uniting the dance kingdom, ensuring that every guest, from humble peasants to the noblest of champions, experiences a reign of elegance, laughter, and unforgettable memories. And don’t worry—unlike Henry, James guarantees he’ll only leave you breathless from dancing, not running for your life!

James & Kelly Prouton - Competition Organisers

Kai Thomas Cromwell.jpg

Kai Widdrington - Co Host

Kai Widdrington, one of the brightest stars in the world of dance, joins the Britannia Dance Championships as co-host for 2025, bringing his energy, charm, and expertise to the event. Fresh from his standout performances on the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing and the Strictly Live Tour, Kai has solidified his reputation as a fan favourite, captivating audiences with his breath taking choreography, natural charisma, and love for the art of dance.

Portraying Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII’s trusted adviser and architect of ambition, Kai will step into the spotlight not just as a co-host, but as the perfect guide to a night of elegance, competition, and entertainment. His knowledge of the dance world, coupled with his sharp wit and rapport with dancers and audience alike, ensures the evening will flow with seamless brilliance.

Dianne House - Competition Coordinator

Dianne Margaret Douglas.jpg

Lady Margaret Douglas, portrayed by our very own Dianne House, brings a quiet yet indispensable presence to the Britannia Dance Championships. Much like her historical counterpart, who stood by Katherine Parr with loyalty and poise, Dianne is the calm amid the whirlwind of competition day.

With her trusty clipboard always in hand – an object so organised it could rival the Tudor archives – Dianne ensures that everything stays on track. While she might not wield the ultimate control of the competition, her steady guidance and thoughtful coordination ensure the pieces fall into place, from ticking off entries to keeping competitors in the loop.

She’s the unsung heroine behind the scenes, keeping things ticking over with her warm smile and knack for smoothing out the little hiccups that come with any great event. Lady Margaret would surely approve of Dianne’s graceful touch and dedication to the role!

Mike Andrews - Light & Sound

Mike Andrews Sir John Carew.jpg

Sir John Carew, a.k.a. Mike Andrews, master of light and sound, is the Britannia Dance Championships’ answer to the Renaissance court magician. Much like the historic knight who was renowned for his wit and versatility, Sir Mike wields his command console with a knightly grace, turning every flick of a switch into pure magic.

With an ear for the perfect tune and an eye for the most dazzling displays, he doesn’t just light up the room—he lights up hearts. They say his sound desk whispers secrets of long-lost dance steps, and his lighting rig once made Henry VIII himself pause mid-banquet to admire the ambience.

Whether he’s casting atmospheric shadows or unleashing bursts of celebratory sparkle, Sir John Carew—sorry, Mike Andrews—ensures the Britannia Gala shines as brightly as the stars in the royal night sky.

Helen Horn - Admissions & Queries

Helen Lady Denny.jpg

Represented by Lady Denny, Katherine Parr's trusted lady-in-waiting, Helen Horn is the welcoming face of the Britannia Dance Championships. Stationed at the front desk, Helen handles admissions, entry queries, and ensures all competitors receive their numbers and competition packs. Known for her incredible knowledge of the event, Helen is your go-to for answers (and for the rare mysteries, she consults with James & Kelly to provide the perfect solution).

Her friendly demeanour and organisational skills make her an invaluable part of the Britannia team. Helen is always ready to ensure a seamless experience for all who attend!
